I had an awesome experience this summer when I went to China. I was able to observe teachers teaching EFL in classrooms on the other side of the world. Now that I am back in the states, learning about the teaching methods, I can pick out things that I witnessed in China and whether or not they seemed to work. Even without knowing the names of the teaching methods, I could tell there were differences.
Outside of the classroom, I learned valuable teaching tips. I learned how to communicate with people who spoke little to no English. In one instance, I had to get directions to a place from a group who spoke no English at all. I am able to use those skills everyday with international students here at msu.
