Hi everyone!
The purpose of creating this blog is to help you get accustomed to being in the shoes of an FL/ESL/EFL teacher. Every other week, you will write a brief reflection on a topic of choice. Some examples of possible topics include (but are not limited to):
1)reflections on a recent FL/ESL teaching experience (for example, tutoring, classroom teaching, volunteer work): what you think went well, areas that need improvement
2)teaching observations, if you had the chance to observe another teacher’s class
3)reflections on content from some of your other teacher education classes (for example, “XYZ could work better for ESL students if…”)
4)expanding your answer to a reading guide question or making connections with personal experience
5)reflections on an issue brought up in this class (lecture, SIOP, reading, discussion etc.)
6)And perhaps the most interesting: random thoughts related to yourself and your development as an ESL teacher
I hope this will be an opportunity for you to think about your development as a FL/ESL/EFL teacher even when we're not gathered in the classroom. And as a class, hopefully we'll be able to learn from our collective insights and build a sense of community in the process, as well.
Looking forward to this!
